Toaster has been developed as an integrated plugin of **ImageJ** application, **version 1.41 or higher**. //It can not be used without ImageJ//

ImageJ is a public domain, Java-based image processing program developed at the National Institutes of Health by Wayne Rasband. This software was designed with an open architecture that provides extensibility via Java plugins and recordable macros. For these reasons, ImageJ is very popular software, and easily used by scientists. (For more details, see its official website https://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/). 

An Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is necessary to use ImageJ and its plugins. This environment should be installed with ImageJ.
