Archimed 1: MIR-MMR

Introduction

Archimed 1 is an implementation containing only the MIR model (a part of MMR without scattering). It has been refactored and packaged in April-May 2012 to be used from several software (e.g. Xplo, Simeo, Capsis…).

Technical considerations

It is be possible to use Archimed 1 in two ways: (1) direct access in memory from another java based software, (2) by file exchange (under progress). The latter is useful for a simulator written in another language or for large scenes to be run on a big computer or a remote cluster dedicated to mass calculation.

The incident radiation is computed for a “Turtle” discretization of the sky (46 directions) according to the latitude, clearness and a given time period.

Each object of the original scene is turned into a Node with a 3D Mesh representation (absolute position within the scene, all ccordinates in meters) and a RadiativeModel attached.

The orientation of the scene can be set and an edge zone can be added around the scene.

The available radiative models are either surfacic: Translucent, Porous or Virtual Sensor, or volumic: TurbidMedium.

The user chooses the target resolution, activates or not the toricity feature and asks for Mir images along the process or at the end to check the process visually.

The Nodes must have their ids set: an ownerId (e.g. plant id, unique in the scene) and an id (e.g. an organ id, unique in the plant/owner). After calling the Archimed 1 launcher, the Nodes will have their energy field set: interceptedLight_MJ and irradiance_MJ_m2. The caller will be able to get the information and match the original objects in its own scene with the unique ids.

A connection plugin is available in Simeo-Scene editor to configure and launch Archimed1 on the edited scene.
