Context: the AMAPstudio software suite

Back to the table of contents

AMAPstudio is a software suite developed by several developers of the AMAP laboratory since 2008.

The main components are :

  • Xplo: a tool to build, edit, visualize and extract data from plant architectures, and to run individual level 3D plant growth models,
  • Simeo: a software to edit 3D scenes made of such detailed plants,
  • Scan: an editor to improve topologies coming from dedicated software running automatic reconstructing algorithms from plants Lidar point clouds.

AMAPstudio contains other parts and models developed in AMAP, sometimes integrated in these main software, sometimes apart.

All these tools are developed with Java and they share common technologies, libraries and services, including :

  • sketch: an AMAP 3D library for sketchy 3D representations, based on JOGL (Java OpenGL),
  • the **Capsis kernel**: the core of the Capsis application, bringing a common way to manage simulation histories in Projects made of Steps (Xplo and Simeo),
  • a charter to state clearly the property of the various components when co-developed with partners,
  • a common source code versioning system,
  • common tools for compilation,
  • support by the AMAP developers (installation, bugs, new features…).

For more details, please see the AMAPstudio web pages.
